The daily sales report every small shop should check
· 4 min read
You don't need an accountant to understand your shop. You need five numbers, every evening, in the same place. Here's what to look at and why.
1. Today's sales
Compare with the same day last week, not yesterday. Weekdays and weekends behave differently.
2. Sales by payment mode
Split sales into Cash, UPI and Card. Your cash total should match the cash in the drawer. If it doesn't, you know on the same day, not at month end.
3. Top-selling products
The items that sold most today, yesterday and over the last 30 days. These are the items you can never let run out, so check their stock next.
4. Low-stock items
Anything below its minimum level. This becomes tomorrow's order list.
5. Profit
Sales minus cost. Keep cost prices current by updating them from each purchase, otherwise your profit figure will drift.
With more than one store
Look at the same numbers store by store. A store comparison showing sales and profit side by side quickly shows which branch needs attention.
ApnaKhatta puts all of this on the owner dashboard and reports, updated with every bill.
